When will Castaway air on the ABC? The ABC has just advised that Castaway is scheduled to go to Q2 (April-Jun). When the final date has been decided upon it will be posted here.
Can I get involved in Trapped or Castaway? No – Trapped was completed in 2008 and Castaway was completed in 2009.
Will there be a third series? No
How can audition for future shows? If and when audition opportunities become available notices will be posted on this website.
Can I contact the cast members of Trapped and Castaway through this website? No. You’ll need to find other ways of expressing your appreciation, like Facebook.
Will Trapped and Castaway be released as boxed set DVDs? No – available only online.
Will other episodes be uploaded to You Tube? No – just the first three episodes of each series.

Hi, I have some questions. First, what happened to the helicopter in the first episode of Trapped? What happened to Rob, did he die? Why is not the same Zuke in both seasons, could not be the first Zuke (co) be in Castaway? Then I have a question, can not you have so that we can download sections and buy a DVD box? I would like to have a DVD box so I can see it on TV:)
Scott (Ryan’s dad) took the key to start the helicopter – Rob mentions in one of the episodes, not sure which one. Rob does survive – he was going to appear in the second series but the writers decided that the Eli Fox storyline was more interesting and went with that. The original Zuke was not available for the second series. DVD box set would be too expensive which is why we opted for the online downloads. You can watch these on TV as well. Just copy the episodes from your computer to a USB Stick and plug it directly into the TV or through a DVD or Blu-Ray Player. One of these items should have a USB input. Hope this helps!

Hi I was just wondering why you are not making anymore box sets of trapped and none of castaway? It would be really great if you did though.
It’s too expensive. It means they’d retail at nearly $90 which is almost twice as much as they if you buy them online for just 1.99 ea.

hey, how did these kids get into these series? did they get chosen or did they have to go and audition? Do you have any other shows coming up that people can audition in?

The kids for Castaway and Trapped came from all over Australia.
Em, Gabe & Saskia were cast locally from Broome. Ryan came from Victoria. Jarrah, Eli, Zuke & Natasha came from NSW and Josh and Lily came from Perth.
They all had to audition. Over 500 kids auditioned for the roles around the country. Unfortunately we do not have another children’s series in the works as we are working on adult film drama, but there are always lots of kids shows going on around the country.
The best thing to do
1) get acting lessons
2) find a talent agent to represent you
3) then audition… audition.. audition!
When a production company goes out for casting they always contact the talent agents, so you really need to be with a talent agent to have the best possible chance.
What city do you live in? I maybe able to recommend a drama school or agent…
I’m in Victoria 14 yrs old, I auditioned and did a production called “Mulan” playing the main role ‘Mulan’ which also involved singing. And I have also done acting for 3 years at a Place called “Just Imagine Performing Arts’ But have only recently quit. They never had anyone asking kids for castings though? In those two years I also did another Performance ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ which I played the Character ‘Veruca’.
So I have had alot of experience with various Characters. Yes i would love to get an agent to help.

The show has already been been sold to the ABC – however they will not release on DVD – they only release their own stuff on DVD
The series is only available online. DVD is also old tech now and too expensive.

Castaway premiered on Channel 7 on 5 February 2011 and played once a week until 30 July 2011 – it has just finished it’s second run just before Xmas where than ran double episodes back to back on Sat & Sun.
So r they playing it again this month??

I don’t think so. It;s hard to know when TV Stations scehdule programs and things change all the time. Quite often they don’t even let us know when they’re on air.
I think the ABC will be the next one to show Castaway – if they let us know when – we’ll posy here and on the You Tube page

Yes we produced it, so it is our series, we own it, we paid for it. About $6 million to be precise.

No – it’s on TV
It will not release to DVD in any form until all the TV contractual obligations have expired – as with any TV show.
